Biography
Denny is an experienced Executive Coach and Leadership Development Consultant. His clients include executives from the industries of insurance, banking, financial services, manufacturing and construction.
Prior to owning his executive coaching and consulting business, he worked for Principal Financial Group for 28 years with the last half of his time focused on developing top talent in the organization, identifying their development needs, leading development strategies and solutions, designing and executing development programs and coaching leadership and executives to achieve results and be their best.
In addition, he led the effort to create a coaching culture throughout the enterprise at Principal. His coaching work has put him in front of multiple middle to executive level leader groups in Principal’s home office as well as in Mexico, India and Hong Kong.
Prior to his human resource career at Principal, he held leadership roles in communications, marketing, product management and insurance operations.
Denny holds a master’s degree from the University of Iowa and a bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University. He holds a certified coach designation (ACC) through the International Coach Federation, holds a board-certified coach designation (BCC) through the Center for Credentialing and Education and is also a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) through the Society for Human Resource Management. He is certified in Hogan leadership development assessments, William Bridges’ Leading Organizational Transition (change management) program and Vital Smarts Crucial Conversations (holding tough conversations) program. His was also the co-recipient of the 2015 Gold Human Capital Management Excellence Award, sponsored by Brandon Hall, for Best Advance in Coaching and Mentoring.
