Shift Your Perspective

When you go on vacation, do you prefer to plan out every detail or do you like to wing it? Recently my husband Dave and I had the opportunity to travel to the Pacific Northwest for an anniversary trip. We've learned we really love to wing it beyond getting our accommodations set up. We call it "summer breezin'" -- just seeing where the wind takes us and going with the flow.
While we're generally quite routine in our daily lives, this approach to vacation is a welcome change for us. It helps us gain fresh perspectives, alleviates any pressure to be or do anything specific, and allows us to truly be present in the moment. It brings out a fun, playful side in both of us, and brings a lot of joy and laughter.
As we traveled through the incredibly beautiful landscapes of the Pacific Northwest, taking in the majestic trees, stunning waterfalls, and vibrant colors, I was struck by how refreshing and healthy it was to embrace a change of scenery and a different frame of mind. The usual stresses of life and work seemed to lessen, and Dave and I were able to reconnect and discuss our goals and plans for the future.
It's amazing how a change in environment can shift your perspective and outlook, even when nothing fundamental in your life has changed. This experience got me thinking: are you taking the time you need to consider how a shift in environment or routine might benefit you?
